Legal
Privacy policy
Putt Pitch Drive is a practice app for golf skills competitions, used by families. This policy explains what the app and this website collect, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
The app and the website are operated by legal entity name, form and mailing address ("we", "us"). Questions go to support@puttpitchdrive.com.
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to work: your email address to sign you in, the first names or nicknames you give the golfers you add, and the shots and scores you enter.
- We do not collect birth dates, precise location, contacts or photos, and the app does not use your camera or track you across other apps.
- There are no ads, and we never sell personal information.
- An adult owns the account. Golfers you add have no login of their own, and the adult can view, correct, export or delete everything from inside the app.
- This website keeps a launch list (an email you choose to give us) and uses anonymous analytics.
1. What this policy covers
It covers the Putt Pitch Drive app for iPhone and, when released, Android, and the website at puttpitchdrive.com. It does not cover Apple, Google or any other company's services that you use alongside the app; their own policies apply to them.
2. What we collect
Your account
Your email address. The app signs you in with a code sent to that address, so there is no password to remember or for us to store.
The golfers you add
The first name or nickname you enter for each golfer, and a nickname for any guest who joins a game. We do not ask for birth dates, ages, schools, photos or addresses, and the app never asks a golfer to create their own login.
Practice and scores
Everything you enter to run a test: the format you chose, whether it was outdoors or on a simulator, which simulator or launch monitor was measuring (as you tell the app), each shot as you record it, the resulting scores, corrections you make, custom formats you create, the drills you mark complete, and any events and dates you put on the calendar. Scores are self-entered; the app does not measure shots itself.
Purchases
Whether the account has an active Season Pass, which plan, and when it renews or lapsed. Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, so Apple or Google handles payment; we never see card numbers. We use RevenueCat to keep subscription status in sync.
Device and diagnostics
A random identifier for each installation of the app, the app version, the device type and operating system, sync status, and your notification preferences. Reminders are scheduled on your device and never contain a golfer's name or a venue.
Usage analytics
The app and the website send anonymous usage events to PostHog, such as which screens or pages were used, so we can see what is working. Names, email addresses and account identifiers are removed before app events are sent. On the website, analytics uses a random identifier stored in a cookie and local storage; it is not linked to an app account. Your browser's Do Not Track setting is honored. The analytics provider receives your IP address with each event and derives an approximate location (country and region) from it.
The launch list
If you give us your email address on the website to hear when the app launches, we keep that address and where on the page you entered it, and we add it to our messaging service so we can send the launch email. Every email we send you that way carries an unsubscribe link.
Support
Whatever you send us when you write to support@puttpitchdrive.com, and our replies.
Server logs
The companies that host the app's data and this website keep standard server logs, including IP addresses and request details, for security and reliability.
3. What we do not collect
- No birth dates or ages.
- No precise location. The app does not ask for location permission.
- No contacts, no photos and no camera access. If you save a score card, it is written to your photo library by you, not read by us.
- No advertising identifiers, no ads and no advertising partners.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
4. Children
Putt Pitch Drive is built for families with junior golfers, and we take that seriously. The account is created and controlled by an adult, normally a parent or guardian. Golfers added to the account have no login, password or email of their own, and the app collects nothing from a child directly. The only information about a golfer is what the adult chooses to enter: a first name or nickname and practice results.
We do not use information about golfers for advertising or profiling, we do not make any golfer's information public, and score cards shared from the app carry no name or location. The adult who owns the account can review, correct, export or delete a golfer's information at any time from inside the app, or by writing to support@puttpitchdrive.com. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, tell us and we will delete it.
5. How we use information
- To run the app: score rounds, keep each golfer's history and bests, suggest drills, and keep your data in sync across your devices.
- To sign you in and send the emails the service needs, such as sign-in codes.
- To manage subscriptions and know which features an account has paid for.
- To send reminders you have turned on.
- To answer support requests.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app and website are used, so we can improve them.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
6. Who else sees information
Companies that process data for us, under contracts that limit what they may do with it:
- Supabase, which hosts the app's database and sign-in service in the United States.
- Apple, which processes App Store purchases under its own terms.
- Google, which processes Google Play purchases under its own terms once the Android app is released.
- RevenueCat, which keeps subscription status in sync.
- Resend, which delivers the emails the service sends, such as sign-in codes.
- OneSignal, which holds the launch list and sends its emails.
- PostHog, which processes the anonymous usage analytics described above, in the United States.
- Netlify, which hosts this website.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the safety of people or the security of the service, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
Anything you choose to share yourself, such as a score card, goes where you send it.
7. Your choices and rights
- Export or delete everything: the app's account settings let the account owner export the account's data and delete the account, including every golfer and every result.
- Correct a result or a name inside the app at any time.
- Clear the remembered setup from the app's settings if you would rather it not be kept.
- Turn reminders on or off in the app or in your device settings.
- Leave the launch list with the unsubscribe link in any email we send it, by replying, or by writing to support@puttpitchdrive.com.
- Website analytics honors your browser's Do Not Track setting; you can also clear the site's cookies and local storage at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to complain to a data protection authority. You can exercise these rights through the app or by writing to support@puttpitchdrive.com. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
8. How long we keep information
Account and practice data are kept while the account exists, because the history is the product. When the account owner deletes the account, the account, its golfers and their results are removed from the live service within number of days days, and from backups within number of days days after that. Support correspondence is kept for period. Launch-list addresses are kept until the app has launched and the list has been used, or until you ask to be removed. Server logs are kept for the short periods our hosting providers use for security.
9. Security
Data travels encrypted between your device and our providers, access to production data is limited to the people who run the service, and sign-in codes expire after a short time and can be used once. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe: it is the key to yours.
10. Where information is processed
We are based in the United States and our providers process information there. If you use the app or website from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will tell account owners in the app or by email before it takes effect.
12. Contact
Email support@puttpitchdrive.com, or write to mailing address.
