Formats
The tests you can play
Each format is scored the same way every time, so this week's round compares fairly with last month's. Choose one when you set up a round.
Standard Qualifier
Three drives, three chips and three putts. Nine shots, 225 points.
The only format that counts toward qualifier personal bests.
PPD Twelve
All four skills, three shots each. Twelve shots, 300 points.
PPD Foundation
The Standard Qualifier sized for younger golfers: shorter distances, the same points. Nine shots, 225 points.
The Nines
Nine shots of a single skill, for working on one thing. 225 points each.
National Finals Practice
Two drives, two chips and two putts, recorded as they land rather than as points.
Practice only: kept as raw results, with no personal bests or comparison.
Your own format
Create a format in the app: choose the skills, the distances and how many shots of each. It keeps its own records, apart from every other format.
How every shot scores
A shot earns points by where it finishes. You tap the spot in the app, and it adds up the points.
Drives
Normal driving uses these 25-yard buckets, easy to judge by eye. Detailed driving scores every 10 yards from 100 yards: 5 points at 100, one more for each 10 yards, 25 at 300.
Chips
Measured from where the ball stops to the hole.
Pitches
The chipping rings at three times the size, for the longer shot.
Putts
The same rings from every distance.
Indoors too
Every format works with golf simulators, launch monitors and indoor putting greens. Indoor and outdoor rounds share one history, with their bests kept apart, because a simulator and a range are not the same test.
